    DETROIT, MICHIGAN, September 15, 2022 — Powerley, a joint venture between DTE Energy, a Detroit-based diversified energy company and Vectorform, a digital innovation consulting company, announced organizational updates to its leadership team to enable the next stage of growth.

    Powerley welcomes Chris Weiss as its new Chief Technology Officer, starting on September 12. As Powerley’s CTO, Chris will be responsible for leading and growing Powerley’s end-to-end integrated software platform, including its award-winning mobile application and new digital user interfaces.

    In addition, Paul Wezner has been promoted to serve as the company’s Chief Product and Customer Officer, overseeing the company’s product roadmap and strategic relationship with its utility partners, including delivery of success for their programs.

    Chris is a seasoned technology leader with more than 25 years of experience, developing software, building systems, and providing a broad range of technology services. Most recently, Chris was the Chief Technology Officer at Dewpoint in Lansing, Michigan, where he progressed through roles with increasing responsibility including Senior Solutions Architect and Chief Architect. Chris prides himself on building a collaborative approach to innovation, drawing from both technology and business. He intends to bring this same style of technical leadership to Powerley.

    Paul has more than 15 years experience in the digital space, including serving as a subject matter expert in the smart energy industry. Paul has served as a member of the board of directors for the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative since 2019 and has spoken at numerous industry events, including PLMA, DistribuTECH and Energy Star. Paul joined Powerley in 2015 as the company’s first employee and was instrumental in operationalizing the organization. He most recently served as Vice President of Product Management.

  2. Director of Data Science

    Powerley is looking for an experienced leader with strong statistical and predictive modelling capabilities paired with business strategy skills to head up Powerley’s Data Science team. This person will be charged with driving the company’s data science strategy, understanding the company objectives, customer needs, and business opportunities to craft a roadmap that will deliver on Powerley’s ambitious goals in the energy management space.

    As a successful candidate, you will work closely with product and development leadership to understand the possibilities of the data and how you can lead a team of Data Scientists to unlock that potential. Finally, the Data Science team lead will need to understand how the products are developed and even more important, as big data touches the privacy of consumers, they need to have a set of ethical responsibilities to ensure the data is being managed in a responsible way.

    In addition to being a leader in the world of data sciences, our perfect candidate is driven to solve challenging problems while collaborating with a talented team to do it.

    Requirements

    • Bachelors and Masters degrees in data science and related disciplines such as data science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, operational research, computer science, physics, or related fields
    • Experience building, mentoring, and managing high-performing data science teams
    • A desire to guide team members on how to best use large data sets to assist the team in identifying opportunities for optimization and recommending advanced models to evaluate the effectiveness of options
    • A broad knowledge and understanding of advanced statistical, machine learning, and/or data mining techniques and the associated analytically oriented programming languages such as Python (NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or XGBoost) and SQL
    • Advanced working knowledge of AWS tools and services for data science and big data, e.g., ECS, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, SageMaker
    • Proven experience developing, deploying, and monitoring scalable AI/ML models
    • Extensive knowledge of statistical methodologies such as regression, classification, time series, and neural networks
    • Experience with advanced quantitative and statistical analysis skills to solve business problems and provide practical business insight using data and a quantitative or scientific approach
    • Willingness to be flexible and work in a demanding environment while overseeing the work of multiple team members, including offshore resources
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex analytical concepts into concise explanations

    Preferred

    • PhD in a quantitative field strongly preferred
    • Experience helping mature data science processes (architecting data pipelines, managing large amounts of data, etc.)
    • Experience within the energy space, working with or familiarity with energy usage information

    Powerley is looking for a passionate Web Developer who will help improve our web and mobile applications that our customers use every day.  You will work closely with world-class designers, firmware engineers, and server-side API developers to create an elegant experience across platforms.

    The Web Developer position at Powerley calls for a great deal of versatility and understanding of complete front end development that allows our innovative applications to render correctly over a given set of platforms.

    Your day to day would be working on creating and enhancing front ends that interact with our customers’ utility data, and working with stakeholders and team members to build components to specification and with accuracy.

    In addition to writing great code, our perfect candidate is someone who is committed to pushing the boundaries of a great consumer app in the home energy management space.

    Requirements

    • Deep understanding of React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML 5, CSS 3.
    • Ability to create clean, interactive user interfaces, that work well across different browser types.
    • Strong foundation of responsive layout experience.
    • Understanding differences between multiple delivery platforms (such as mobile vs, desktop), and optimizing output to match the specific platform
    • Translation of UI/UX wireframes to visual elements.
    • Familiar with the NPM ecosystem.
    • Git experience.
    • Experienced reading and writing JSON.
    • Must have an eye for detail.
    • Bonus: Knowledge about CI/CD system, AWS or other cloud services/tools.

    This part-time position manages the coordination of logistics and supply chain services to our end users. Major responsibilities are to assess vendors, manage contract adherence, and place orders for products and services.

    Powerley is looking for a motivated and efficient Purchasing Coordinator to join the Powerley team! The Purchasing Coordinator will be in charge of ensuring that the goods and products meet their intended destination at the correct price, at the right time, and at the best quality. You will be responsible for contacting suppliers, corresponding about deliveries, and more.

    This position is part-time with the potential to expand to full-time in the future. Although not required, having previous experience in this line of work is a benefit.     ROYAL OAK, April 19, 2022 —  Powerley, a joint venture between DTE Energy, a Detroit-based diversified energy company and Vectorform, a digital innovation consulting company, announced today that Rahul Prakash has been named its new chief executive officer (CEO).

    In this role, Prakash will guide the company’s operational progression and define the next round of expansion and go-to-market strategies. Prakash brings over 25 years of experience as an investor, manager, advisor to his new role.

    Previously, he served as president and CEO of Everest Telecom Management and co-founder of Binary Fountain; founder, chairman and CEO of Global Services Partners Acquisition Corporation; and president of Telecom Ventures. He also serves on several boards of companies in the US and overseas.

    “I look forward to working with the team at Powerley in the exciting and fast-growing industry of home energy management,” Prakash said. “Home energy management has proven to be relevant for climate change, and the opportunities for growth are even more robust. Powerley is now well poised to capitalize on the market potential this industry offers.”

    The Technical Project Manager (TPM) works closely with Powerley’s software engineering team to create the next generation of home energy management products, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, within scope, and of the highest overall quality. As a TPM at Powerley you will be responsible for managing project plans while ensuring work is prioritized and communicated to the team and remove blockers to allow the team to work efficiently on their tasks.

    As a TPM, in addition to working with the development team, you’ll also be responsible for proper documentation of work, including tracking of tasks, bugs and stories, managing workflows and being an excellent communicator to both the internal software development team and internal and external stakeholders. As a leader in the successful development and delivery of work, wou will be able to identify and forecast company and project ‘fire drills’ and potential disasters before they happen.

    As Powerley is moving quick, this individual must be able to quickly launch new features and functionality. Finally, the Project Manager must have a desire to work together with a passionate team to help solve complex problems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Own and manage the software development process internally within Powerley, including bringing to the table expertise and best practices on various development methodologies
    • Manage project plans to scope, identifying and implementing corrective action plans to meet scope, time, and cost constraints
    • Maintain technical project documentation, including updating of requirements, file locations, calendar support, prepare and distribute minutes, follows up on any next steps to assure completion
    • Lead project teams through all the project phases and guide team in prioritizing work based upon knowledge of customer requirements, project schedule, and various dependencies
    • Document APIs and technical architecture of components for internal and third-party use
    • Lead multiple projects of varying complexity concurrently, which can include virtual team members, strong understanding of MS Office Suite, include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or related field
    • Prior project management experience, with a focus in the software space and Agile methodology
    • Excellent documentation skills to be able to clearly understand the project requirements, translating into technical tasks and working with the team to ensure clarity
    • Knowledge of project management tools, such as MS Project or JIRA
    • Ability to manage resources, both internal and external, for purposes of resource planning and forecasting

    The DevOps Engineer will work with application developers to create CI/CD pipelines to allow for rapid development and deployment of services by developers. The DevOps Engineer will also ensure that monitoring and logging are setup and maintained for application services and AWS infrastructure. This position will also assist the DevOps team in maintaining service reliability and uptime. 

    Job Description: 

    • Assist in designing and implementing a holistic solution for logging, monitoring, and alerting for the Powerley platform. 
    • Support production applications within AWS running on AWS Linux, Ubuntu, and Windows 2012+ instances. 
    • Codify current AWS infrastructure, automating, and reporting on the environment. 
    • Assist in streamlining/reducing AWS cost. 
    • Create code deployment pipelines and assist developers in deploying applications 
    • Test our system integrity, implemented designs, and other processes related to infrastructure, making improvements as needed. 
    • Automate our operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security requirements. 
    • Assist Customer Support Team (System Administration and Technical Support) with overflow tasks
