Powerley is seeking a systems administrator to join our high-growth, creative organization at its offices in Royal Oak, MI. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire IT function including managing all hardware, software, systems and networks. This role will also grow into a position where you will be helping deliver and support our applications and products in the field with our customers. You will work closely with world-class designers, software engineers and firmware engineers to help support a platform that will potentially reach into millions of homes across the globe. This position will require all of your enthusiasm and problem solving skills.


  • Installing, configuring and maintaining computer hardware, software, systems, and networks
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
  • Talking to employees and users to determine the nature of problems
  • Timely resolution response to issues or breakdowns
  • Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults
  • Repairing equipment and replacing parts
  • Obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings
  • Checking computer equipment for electrical safety
  • Maintaining records of software licenses
  • Managing stocks of equipment and other supplies.
  • Manage and protect company backups
  • Help determine and execute company IT policies

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Linux and Windows systems administration experience
  • Experience managing permissions and Active Directory 
  • Experience connecting applications and services running on linux machines
  • Experience managing linux users and permissions for development environments 
  • Must be able to manage and deploy applications running on Linux 
  • Must be able to manage web/thick apps running on Windows 
  • Experience with backups and systems monitoring 
  • Windows Desktop administration including malware/virus removal
  • Ability to think creatively, and problem solve in a structured manner
  • Passion for work, highly-driven, and self-motivated
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, plan, and manage change
