Powerley is looking for an experienced UX Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be a primary contributor the user-centric design perspective, informing design systems & processes, and leading design delivery of functional products that address our clients’ needs. You will deepen the relationship with users by creating a valuable & personalized experience, ultimately driving growth. Day to day, you will interact with stakeholders across the organization with a variety of subject matter expertise to support a platform that will potentially reach millions of homes around the globe.

You must share a portfolio of professional projects that includes work with web and mobile applications to be considered for the role. This is a full-time position, currently working remotely with a team based out of our Royal Oak, MI office.

Scope of role:

  • Lead design for the customer journey and supporting features to guide impact across a variety of projects
  • Display a deep curiosity about behavior and values to empathize with our users
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with the Product & Customer Experience team
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform high-level product strategy, ensuring we’re solving for distinct needs
  • Contribute to & inform research plans, methodologies, and test strategies
  • Implement insights found by conducting market research and usability testing
  • Use visual artifacts (e.g. user journeys, experience maps, sitemaps) to align, prioritize and inspire while collaborating throughout the design process
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of Powerley’s existing product experience across platforms, as well as the UI pattern library to ensure a cohesive experience
  • Create sketches, mockups and prototypes to communicate solutions
  • Create original graphics (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Participate in giving and receiving thoughtful & constructive feedback to strengthen design solutions
  • Architect complex information in end-to-end flows
  • Present iterations and proposed solutions to internal teams
  • Deliver high quality, production-ready designs
  • Experiment with different tools and methods to better inform our processes

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4+ years of design experience as a UX Designer or similar role
  • Distinctive portfolio of shipped products
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design best practices
  • Experience working within growth-focused problem spaces
  • Competent across product design (e.g. UX, visual design, motion design)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe CC, Sketch, InVision, Principle, Miro)
  • Demonstrate ability to balance user needs, brand and business goals
  • Demonstrate ability to work through ambiguous and complex problems
  • Understand how qualitative research & data inform product & design decisions
  • Demonstrate team spirit; displaying strong storytelling and communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Enthusiasm for Powerley’s mission
  • BSc in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or equivalent experience
